RECENT CLUB EVENTS
Saturday 28th June - an enjoyable Quiz night, with Elaine as Quizmaster
Committee Meeting -
Wednesday 30th July 2008
Start time 8:30 pm
Present: David, Elaine, Michelle, Jean, Mark and Jamie.
Apologies: Rodney.
The minutes of the committee meeting held on the 2nd of July 2008 were read by the secretary, confirmed by those present and signed by the Chairman. Matters arising from the minutes:
1. Price list for behind the bar still needs to be completed.Any Other Business:
2. Secretary to obtain a price from an electrician to fit the outside light.
3. Michelle confirmed that a till roll has now been fitted.
4. Rodney to look at prices for conversion to gas, Secretary stated he had received a letter from Rodney to tell the committee that British gas will be quoting us shortly but we will need separate quotes for internal supply and installation of a new boiler.
5. Rodney also sent a letter to the secretary to state he had done some analysis on our electricity consumption and our direct debit may need to be increased.
6. Secretary completed paperwork and sent to council with regards to a grant.
7. Committee spoke about ‘jam nights’ Mark has made enquires and will get this started.
8. Backtrack has been booked for 6th of September, tickets available to include fish+chip supper (see Forthcoming Events above)
9. Confirmation that as of next year, the club membership fees will be due in January not November.
10. Elaine stated we now have 80 adult members + children.
11. Secretary to draw up a contact sheet to be left behind the bar.
1. Due to the rise in the cost of electricity the committee may need to increase the cost of hiring the club; this will need to be discussed at the next AGM.There being no further business, the meeting closed at 10.00pm.
2. Elaine to look at the price of a new oil tank as the gas conversion may be too expensive.
3. We have received some new glasses from Greene King and we have now placed our first order so we can now expect a visit from their cellar service.
4. Quiz nights, Elaine suggested we have a cup to be left in the club, perhaps present a certificate after every quiz and hold them on a monthly basis, committee agreed. We will be starting monthly quizzes as of the 4th of October.
5. Committee to arrange a night at Mildenhall dogs for the 26th of September.
6. Committee spoke about what we can do for New Years Eve, it was agreed to see what Backtrack are like in the forthcoming event and see if they are available.
7. Committee to look at holding a summer fete next year.
8. Mark spoke about holding a fancy dress party perhaps look at a Halloween party for kids & adults, committee to speak about this at the next meeting.
The membership year runs from the AGM, when annual renewal fees are due.

Please support the Social Club, it is a considerable asset to the village but may not always be there for you.
